Every now and then we hear about or read about a story
that somehow, somewhere involves the passing of a small child.
And at Christmas the loss is especially troubling and touching-
thus, the story of seven year old James Delorey...
The world was watching, hoping and praying that yet another
child would be found, safe and sound and reunited with his
parents. This was not the case. The non-verbal, autistic boy
got lost in the woods near his Sydney, Nova Scotia home after
he ran after his dog Chance. Two days in the woods with his
favorite dog must have been a terrible ordeal. The howling
wolves perhaps, or how did he keep warm? And then how
fortunate that at least he got to spend his final hours with Chance. The dog ran from the bush and following his paw
prints the rescuers found James.
And the stars sang, the trees swayed and the night of
falling snow, like tears and we all cried for James.
God love you and your dear family, bless you and keep you
and the world shall not forget you James or your precious
doggie Chance.
For Christmas is about children. We must all treasure what
we have and remember that we may have today but there is
no guarantee for tommorro.
