Today was an interesting day at the gym.
The facility that I attend is blessed to have a cinema room, which is an entire
room of cardio machines. It is kept dark, and there is a movie theater
sized screen at the front. It REALLY makes time go by fast.
Today, however, there was the s-l-o-w-e-s-t movie on! It
was horrible...didn't even WANT to catch the name of it...didn't care!
Honestly, I would have rather watched paint dry!
I kept saying to myself..."Mind over matter...Mind over matter...Mind over
matter!!!"
Then, I had asked one of the trainers if he could turn on
the ceiling fans because it was really hot in the room! For some reason, when
he switched them on, it felt like they were pushing the heat down
on me instead of giving me their normal refreshing breeze! Again,
"Mind over matter...Mind over matter...Mind over matter!!!"
I wanted to throw in the towel after 15 minutes had passed...my mind was
anywhere BUT that movie, my legs were turning into Jell-o (which I usually
don't notice because I'm actually interested in whatever movie is
playing), and I was sweating like there was no tomorrow! Can we say
"SAUNA!"
But, I refused to give up!
So, now it was pep talk time...
"Okay, Jenn...how bad do you want this? Are you going to give up so
easily? When the odds are against you, will you just quit?"
NO!!!!!!
I won't quit! So, despite the fact that my legs had no feeling, sweat was
dripping down my back & I thought I was going to DIE of boredom, I kept
going! Finished my entire cardio workout! Wo hoo!
I know that it was only a small hurdle, but I was proud of myself! If I
can overcome the minor challenges, then when the bigger ones come along, I will
be prepared!
It's not only about training my body & my mind, but also my
will power!
“The secret of living a life of excellence is merely a matter of thinking
thoughts of excellence. Really, it's a matter of programming our minds with the
kind of information that will set us free.” ~Charles R. Swindoll
I am going to continue programming my mind, and I will not stop short of
excellence!
How about you?

By the way, I did my weekly weigh in, and I pretty much broke even. Grrr....
I will just keep trying harder! And, someday I will be able to say:
"I have fought the good fight. I have completed the race. I have kept the faith." ~2 Timothy 4:7
