If you liked this post, check out more from Jumping Jelly Bean.First off, I am mainly doing this because of my health. I have been searching for answers for certain health problems for some time now (like, my whole life) and in the past two weeks I had a small break through, and with it, a realization about life.
For the past several years I have gone to bed every night with a nasal strip on my nose. I don't know if anyone knows what they are but basically they are like a band-aid with strong elastic in it that you put on your nose and it opens up your nasal passages so you can breathe freely.
Well, for the past several years I absolutely could not sleep without them, my nose would be closed and I wouldn't be able to breath. So, a couple weeks ago it was pointed out to me that these nasal strips were creating a mark on my nose that wasn't there before, so - I decided that I had no choice but to stop wearing the nasal strips - but instead of panicking, I told myself that I had no choice but to breath clearly at night without them, what else could I do? Sure enough, that very same night I was able to breathe freely and I haven't needed to wear the nasal strips since.
The point of sharing this story about my health is to prove that if I can change my health with the power of my intentions, then you can do the same thing with your mood, or your situation in life.
If you make the decision to be healthy, you will be healthy. If you make the decision to be sad, you will be sad. If you make the decision to be rich, you will be rich. Whatever you are feeling, you are allowing yourself to feel it. And sometimes it's good to allow yourself to feel sad, or angry, or whatever, when appropriate. But sometimes a person gets stuck in those states, and the only way to get out of it is to truly make the decision to change. When you realize that your whole life is as simple as that, your whole perspective on life will change.
YOU have the power to control how you feel. Stuck in traffic driving you crazy? Well, you have the choice to be miserable and impatient, or you can sign a song at the top of your lungs or make funny faces in the rearview mirror and laugh. It's YOUR choice!
Here's another for instance... the only people I ever knew who successfully quit smoking - simply decided to quit. No matter how many quit smoking aids a person uses, if they don't make an authoritative decision to quit, they never will, and once the person makes the decision to quit, they won't even need the quit smoking aids.
So whatever you want out of life, decide you are going to make it happen, and you will make it happen - well, that's my two cents, anyway.
