Here at the Paralympics is a message of hope and inspiration for the world. Paralympians - this blogs for you.

Absolutely incredible! Men and women - some blind, deaf, missing limbs, competing in sporting events, not easy ones,
biathlon, skiing, curling, hockey. Just think about it - an
athlete going downhill with a prosthetic leg, some able to
bench press 300 or 400 pounds, and some are multiple medal
contenders. How very impressive.

While many of us worry about a rent or mortgage payment,
having enough groceries in the fridge - it is so exciting and
inspirational to see folks who have to worry about getting
into and out of a wheelchair, moving on crutches, unable to
see - going about their daily activity. They (the paralympians)
do not see missing limbs as a deterent, but an opportunity
or a challenge if you will. And make the best of it (they do
indeed. )

Apparently the theme of the Paralympics opening ceremony
was to not leave anyone out. After all, we all reside in the same
world. Be what you want. Go where you want. And if you expect
life to be great - make it great. If you wish to sit idle and dwell
on all the negative things in life - the end result, that is pretty
much what you get. So perhaps we can all learn something here.
These paralympians overcome a handicap. They excel. Their
journey in this world is a special one.

All the best to all the athletes and those who volunteer and
to all the rest of us that observe and go about life with our
limbs in place, our eyes and ears working. Let us never
take these things for granted. The paralympians know that
too well....and carry on with what they have...

506 athletes, 30 events. So much to do. So little time.
So take the time to say a little prayer of hope that all goes
well for the winners and losers who in the end all finish
first, in my opinion.
