blog
Here I am at 3 A.M. in the morning. Sitting at the computer
having coffee, in my pajamas. Everyone else is sleeping, well
except our daughter who is watching television (a good show about Mexico I am told). I was thinking about this whole idea
of blogs. We obviously cannot ignore the likes of A. Huffington
(socialite millionaire) or Prince Harry in Afghanistan or Tom
Cruise ranting about Scientology...or the likes of Michael
Arrington who had a big following writing about the internet
goldrush.
Still, my mind is not on all that frivilous stuff. I sit here thinking about Grandpa, coming off the boat in eastern Canada with perhaps only the clothing on his back, a duffel bag with a few odds and ends. Perhaps an axe. His mindset was survival.
He did not have to worry about videos of dogs on skateboards
or about the 600 million daily internet bloggers. There were none. No television. No Telephone.
And you know, this coffee is keeping me awake. Do I need a
tofuburger? Or a strange thought crossed my mind, why are
dogs more interesting than humans (at times)?
Yes Grandpa came to this land as a pioneer. His web of wonder
was the land itself, the beauty and vastness of Canada. He walked - yes walked from the east to the west. He cleared his
own land and built his own house. Not much, perhaps a small
wooden structure with mud serving to keep out the cold. But it
was home, complete with a coal oil lamp.
In the meantime, back to 2010. And I sit here thinking, is
actress Jinglei (very popular in China) still getting 11 million
visitors reading her web blogs? Is she still writing about her cats? Her blog passed the 1 billion click status last year.
And I sit in my pajamas and think about Grandpa. I remember
falling down the stairs into his dirt basement (I was terrified) and only about 6 or 7 years old. Funny how you remember these things.
Well, this blog writer better get some rest, get to dreamland
and hopefully dream of the forest, of the simple times, of
Grandpa, working in the mine, a big man with a big heart.
Gosh, do I have an audience of one or two reading this? That is
just fine. Have a good night everyone....
