Singer Annie Lennox recently sang these words, in a song: "...I wish to God that kids like you could be like everyone..."

blog

What did those words mean that Annie Lennox sang in her song:
Kids like you? Exactly what does that mean? Well, not everyone
has a computer or an ipod or even a cell phone, or might not know (or care) about such things. There are (as we all know) some kids somewhere that are poor - and perhaps a better term
would be disadvantaged.  They simply lack the advantage that the rest of the kids have. Some do not get three square meals,
maybe one, if any at all. Are we talking about third world countries or maybe its here, in Canada, in the U.S. and in other
rich countries. Yes, I think it is. And why are they unknown and forgotten?  If not for the fundraising and people who suddenly
want to help in different ways, the problem remains. Sure there
are doctors who contribute time and energy to the Doctors without Borders program, some celebrity types adopt one or two children. But for the most part much of the problem has to do within homes where parents abuse alcohol or drugs. And because
of the addictions - children do not receive the love and education and opportunity that is there for the rest of the kids. We hear about some educated people taking their kids to the food bank or making use of social services. And that is not entirely bad if it provides a chance, yes a chance of another day, we simply have got to feed the poor. But why is it always- suffer the children. Why are the children the ones who are subjected to some totally unbelievable abuse? And not only from parents, but from some
supposedly very intelligent and educated types. From some who
serve the church. Why?

I have heard about a foster Mom who because of being bi-polar
had her kids taken away and placed in foster homes. There they
were abused.

No doubt there are many questions but not a lot of answers.
So when you hear Annie Lennox sing the words to her song:
"I wish to God that kids like you could be like everyone..." you
begin to understand....
