Each of us loves to express an opinion - a reflection of our
personality, a glimpse of a certain mind-set. We sometimes
get ourselves into trouble, perhaps with ill-chosen vocabulary
or verbally pointing a finger at a person, a place, the subject
of politics or religion, etc. Yet, we are all intent on having our
voice heard.
Just remember that famous line - Its not what you say, but
how you say it. Dad had another - You always attract more
flies with honey than with vinegar. Yes, our words lift us to
greater heights or lower us into the gutter. Its not a very good
idea to express oneself in a fit of anger, or when feeling tired
or ill, or especially after consuming alcohol. That sort of opinion
could be called, adding fuel to the fire.
Try sleeping on it, taking a long walk on a cool night, then coming back to unspoken words - words that can break a heart,
heal a wound, or simply inspire. Its really your choice, that is
your choice of words. Hey you-might sound better as- Hi There.
Get the picture? Well, just remember we all error and usually
its on the side of good intent. And an apology works well, when
needed. So a final word to the wise, whether putting the mouth
in gear, writing a letter or sending an e.mail, use a little bit of
ole fashioned kindness and consideration. Put some gentleness
in your words - and you are well on your way to being respected
and embraced. People do listen when prompted by that kind of
sentiment.
