Who are we?

Away he rode in a cloud of dust. The masked man. The Lone
Ranger. Great show. And it brings up the question asked through the ages, Who are we?
A question asked by Holy Men, Psychics, Poets, Philosphers.
And its continually evolved into that same question of Who
are we. Or, who am I?
It is said we are born alone and die alone. And in a sense, much
truth to that. Then again, we are created as a part of a whole.
Or is it a whole of a part? Nonetheless we arrive with a loud
fanfare (for the most part) - that being our own voice crying
and whimpering. And often leave or depart, in that order. While
everything in-between is our life. In other words, life is our
reward. Basically, our gift. And taken in that context, perhaps
we should be so careful how we use that gift. How we present it.
How we live. And how we die.
Recently, a friend confided in me that having been so very
successful in so many things he now finds himself, due to a
series of health issues pondering how to live out the rest of
his life. And he is only fifty. Suddenly unemployed. Suddenly
trying to figure out just how long his resources are going to
last. Yet, in the midst of worry - he has faith, that everything
will turn out according to Gods plan. And indeed, it is without
saying - a plan, within a plan. Not always our plan. Not in this
case, his plan. But a plan.
So, back to the Lone Ranger. He represented someone on a
mission. To do good. Riding a white horse, with his pal Tonto.
And it was continually about good over evil. And the same way
life presents itself, with many temptations. Opportunity to do
good or do bad. Get into trouble vs getting a reward. Until
the end suddenly (without being prepared) presents itself. One
day, the big black train has pulled into the station and you
need to get on. Because you have been called, to go home.
Then its too late. Who am I - is no longer a worry, because it
has all been predetermined. To our chagrin, its a done deal.
So, whether you feel perplexed, excited or worried - take heed,
that you need to look into the mirror and ask yourself: Who am
I and know in the back of your mind, you are a gift, a creation
and a special human being that has the power to do good and
in the distance of time and space, a reward is waiting...
