Most of us are greedy. Most of us are materialistic. Most of us wouldn't care if someone got what they needed as long as we did.
Of course, that is a generalization, but really, is the saying, "It is better to give than receive" true? Well, I am one of the few people who applied that moral to my life.
I don't remember exactly when-but I changed. One day I decided to give something without getting anything from it-well, except for the happiness it gave me when I saw the smile on their faces-and it felt great. And ever since that day I have continually been very giving.
Let me tell you a story. There was this one girl, and her teacher was going to have a baby, and this teacher had a baby shower in the classroom with her students, including this girl. This girl, as well as her other classmates brought gifts for her. Everyone but the girl were more concentrated on socializing and eating, but this girl was so excited for her teacher to open her gift. It was a great feeling. Soon, gifts were opened and the girl urged her teacher to open her gift first. Not because she wanted everyone to be jealous, but she wanted to see the smile on her teacher's face. It brought her so much joy when she saw her teacher smile.
That girl was me.
Ask yourself this: Do you give more than you receive?
