Jonas is a Rotweiller pup that likes to come to visit us at the lake.

Jonas did not mean any harm. Only problem was that we brought out little dog
Sandy with us for a day at the lake. What we call the lake is actually about a
half mile off the lake, the property being an acreage. Lots of trees. A garden.
Just a place to rest and relax as is so necessary in this hectic society of ours.
As I said, Jonas did not mean any harm. He just came over from his place
and probably got out of the yard on his own. He looked a little scary and having
Sandy with us...we were concerned. Neighbors came out and also eyed Jonas with some skepticism. But he proved to be a gentleman of a dog even in his
wayward ways by placing himself in front of our gate, even though in protest
I tried to chase him home. I hollered go home. But in the yard he came, direct
to my wife in the garden. He was her friend. She liked Jonas and he knew it.
But I thought a little different, worried about our own dog and tried to chase
Jonas away. But he came back and again and again he came back. In spite of
my protest and stern voice. So I gave up. In the yard he came, right up to me and
nudged my hand in my pocket. He was trying to tell me to loosen up, lighten up
and take careful notice he meant no harm.

When Jonas finally left our place as rain poured down....I could not help but think to myself....how often we chase away what we don't understand and just
often ignore people and situations even though (likeJonas) folks prod and
prance and try to gain our attention. But we often choose to ignore them. Like
Jonas, like God....we fear the unknown....we fear what might happen if we allow
friendship to enter the picture.

And that is what Jonas did that day, he proved himself worthy, made me think
about life. He made me think about the word rejection versus acceptance.  And
I guess I needed his acceptance as he needed mine.
