Years ago, as a teenager - I recall looking through books at the
local library. I noticed a dignified gentleman looking through
his own selection of books and walked over and asked out of
curiosity what he did for a living...'Oh, he replied, I study life
on other planets.' Perhaps eccentric....? perhaps....
Hollywood has, on occassion, brought us movies dealing with
history, with the past, about dreams, about the planetary systems. One movie that caught my attention some years ago
was Somewhere in Time(1980) with none other than our Superman hero, Christopher Reeve.
Have you ever closed your eyes and tried to imagine yourself
as a time traveller - reaching into the past? The imagination
is a wonderful thing and perhaps in a sense we are all time
travellers, yet respectful of our current time and place. We
all are probably quite capable of watching ourselves travel
to distant places (at least in our dreams) often waking up and
thinking...did this really happen?
I am told if you have a pen and paper beside your bed before
going to sleep, you are more likely to wake up and remember
dreams (and quickly write out a summary).
Back to that wonderful movie Somewhere in Time - it seems
having artifacts and even antiques in your home enhances
the time travel experience.
The present after all has a bridge - a connection to the past
and of course, many things of life have yet to be understood.
