How many times have you seen the saying. "See no evil, speak not evil, hear no evil?" I know I have seen it many times and have taken notice of it and wondered why I don't honor it more.
Somehow it seems to be more easy, more natural to notice something we do not like in ourselves or someone else rather than finding something to love. It is from the very lack of love of ourselves that we do this. If we could really grasp and come to know that everything we think, feel and do comes back to us, I think we would be more mindful of how we are thinking.
For example, someone irritates you and you start to think of all the reasons why this person is annoying to you. Before you are finished there is nothing you can find that you like about this person. Realistically you haven't changed the person and most times they may have no idea that you are feeling the way you do about them. But, there is another element you have totally forgotten. How is this thinking affecting you? The universe doesn't know exactly everything you are thinking and why it only knows that you are emitting a feeling of irritation so being the magnet that you are the universe decides to send you more of what you are feeling.
I've started a practice of replacing my own name into my conversations in my mind that are negative. Instead of looking at someone and thinking they are mean, or selfish, or what ever other negative thought that is running through my mind. I start to feel those thoughts directed at myself because that is really where they are. I have found I don't like them and I stop doing it in very quickly. This is a very simply way of making yourself aware of how what you are thinking feels.
Ask yourself the question? Do I want this kind of feeling being brought back to me? When you admire, when you love, when you are grateful, when you are kind, imagine what the universe has in store for you. Build a future of good things by thinking good thoughts.
