WHAT ARE WE DOING TO PROTECT OUR SOLDIERS

Christmas morning. 7 A.M. Pour a warm cup of tea, let the dog out and notice a copy of People Magazine on the table. For some reason I flip open to a page about the fallen soldiers. 547 died, People Mag tells us and yet another 17,000 prepare to leave from Ft. Cambell Army base in Kentucky.
I question technology and wonder why it is our scientists, inventors and engineers cannot come up with more counter-devices to protect the young soldiers and keep them out of harms way. Its a problem no doubt. Yet these brave young men continue to walk into battle, knowing the risks...
In my own twenty some years of working some days with ex-military (in my aerial photography business) I gained much respect for the manners, intelligence and capability shown. Obviously the training in the military greatly impacts lives...
Still perhaps we need to do more, sanctions against other countries who supply components that make these horrific bombs, even going so far to cordon off an entire country (if possible). I wish I had the answers.
Nonetheless, our prayers and thoughts to all the brave souls who shall go into the unknown in 2011...
