Dad liked the old movies and the old actors who created characters that stay with us,throughout our lives....Humphrey Bogart, Lon Chaney, and so many who left an impression....

blog
Each of us finds an escape at the movies. We travel the highway with Charles Bronson, tear up a restaurant with Clint Eastwood, find ourselves quietly cheering when the bad guy takes the fall, even sometimes when there is a prison escape, we
almost find ourselves running next to those trying to hide from
the dogs and guns...we are quietly participating...

And those images and faces and moments stay with us for a lifetime. We even mimic the sounds and expressions of those
we truly cherish. The smug look of George Burns with his cigar,
Jack Benny with the violin, Sinatra looking super cool with a
long legged dancer nearby...ah those precious moments.

What is it about fantasy and escape that lends itself to our own
lives? Perhaps we need to have this diversion... Satchmo (Louie Armstrong) in the small jazz club, we were there when Billie Holliday sang the blues, yes, in a sense we were there. Even
though we were not...

The legends, the actors, the dancers, the singers  -  need us as
much as we need them.

So next time you go to the movies, take a good look at the faces
around you, watch how they smile or grimace when the actor
shows fear or pain or joy.  We share those moments. And those
moments stay with us  -  throughout our lives....

Get your coat, don't forget the popcorn - lets go to the movies!!
