Nellie and Theodore. Lately I have repeated those names. Those significant names that suddenly have come into my life. Who are they?  Well, the grandparents I never met. Dad lost his Mom and Dad (our Grandparents) when
he was only a young 22 years old.  Living in Calgary, Alberta at the time. And
having travelled from Selkirk, Manitoba to Calgary, then for a while to Richmond, California, and Portland, Oregon and back to Calgary. Things I never knew but am finding out. Some neat stories Dad told us about selling
newspapers and shining shoes, surviving the depression years and doing whatever you needed to do.  And those were the early times....

But then again, surface those lovely names, Nellie and Theodore. And after
much research finding they are buried in two separate graves in a small
Pioneer Cemetery. And I need to go there, stand or kneel there, say a prayer
and possibly shed a tear there, for the two grandparents I have never met.
At least I found them. And have their picture. And treasure that picture.

Now, the next step is to go back a little further. I know they were born in
Austria as was our Grandfather on Moms side of the family. And that they
came over by boat to this great lonely land we call Canada.

Our uncle Steve worked with a crew on the building of Rogers Pass. Steve
married a beautiful lady named Pearl (our Aunt) and Pearl is Dads Sister.

My, oh my. How little I know about the family. How much more I would like to
know. As you would, about your family, your past history. Its all interesting
and all connected. Just as we read Genesis in the bible about the beginning and all the names and connections.

We need to appreciate the past as much as we do looking towards the future
and with that in mind, just maybe this day we call TODAY, will be all the more
special.

Happy Easter Everyone and God Bless.
