It was years ago that brother Ted asked me if I would like to play
the accordian and as fast as I said yes, he had the little accordian
strapped on me, had me sitting in a chair and looking over at something called notes. It was a time to learn. And learn I did, to
not only play with the right hand, but chord with the left. Before long I was playing a waltz, a polka, a march, and much more.
Amazing but Ted continued with school friends in various bands
through the years, and lately has bookings for a street dance, a wedding, a seniors lodge and much more. It seems he not only gets older but busier. I am truly amazed as I have always been.
Ted had the patience to teach little brother (myself) even times
when I did not want to learn, he would prod me onward, reminding me, yes- you can do it.
Even with a few health issues that seniors run into in later years
Ted continues to be in demand and I continue to be amazed. If not
in his beloved garden, or at his cottage, Ted is likely somewhere on stage getting ready for the next performance. And there are many groups or bands like this across the country that play mostly because they simply like to entertain and yet how much more they
do than simply entertain....they give people hope and joy and
a big smile.
If music be food for the soul, play on big brother....
