I'm new to this board, and I thought of something that was given to my mother years ago, she has now passed, but I thought it was a great idea, and I'd like to share it, with hopes that others will repeat this act of kindness.

My mother was a resident at an assisted living in Florida.  On her birthday she received a mug with artificial flowers in them, I thought it was the most wonderful act of kindness. I found out that they were donated by a group of woman from church who called themselves the "Birthday Club".  They contacted the assisted living and nursing homes in the area and asked how many birthdays were being celebrated for the month, and on the first of every month, they delivered a box of these coffee mugs filled with flowers.  On their birthday,  the activities person would greet the resident at breakfast with a surprise birthday mug, and how happy they were to receive them.  Birthdays are special times, and no matter how old you get it's nice to be remembered.
