Travelling through the backroads for over 20 years, I got to meet and spend
time with farmers, oilmen, some folks that seemed rich to the extreme and
others extremely rich and yet others who were truly rich. The question crossed
my mind - who is rich? Is it the car dealer with a few hundred dusty cars
waiting to be sold, is it a farmer with a crop that is awaiting harvest, is it
the executive(who to some extent) has control on the oil and gas in this world?
Or is it the long haul truck driver who badly needs to get home to his family
after weeks on the barren highway?  It could be any of them, all of them or none
of them. You see, it is a real problem to get a handle on who is rich because there are many who just cannot possibly perceive themselves to be rich, even
though they have health, physical and mental, are able to work, to walk, to talk
to do things that some others cannot do. It is said that true riches await us in
heaven. Well, for the time being we are here on earth and need to focus on that.
We need to focus on being good folks, on being useful folks as much as possible
and focus on doing some good to leave a legacy of who we were when we walked
on this planet Earth.  And in doing good and sharing some goodness there is
no doubt that we can be richer than we ever imagined possible.  But don't expect
those riches to add up at the bank, the bank is interested in profit. But just
remember to seek out reasons why you just might be rich. And  you shall soon
need a paper and pen to list all those reasons. For you see, we are all rich.
And just maybe our temporary poverty is the stepping stone to a different type
of rich, once we recognize that being rich is living each day as we should and
not expecting a whole lot more. Just maybe we shall then find out - WE ARE
RICH.
