Everyday I take the bus to class! Everyday it's the same. Today however things were a little bit different. I charged up my Ipod for the first time in months the night before, and stuck it my ear. I grabbed my cell phone and started a texting conversation with an old friend of mine from high school and began my journey. The remix to a song called Paradise came on done by Brandy and her brother Ray J. As I got into the mood, of the song that vividly explains how easy it is to get lost in our own paradises, and not even realize how much better we have it than so many other people. The song describes how we look away when someone looks to us for help, and ignore the people begging for our attention! Today this song caught my attention, and as I was sitting there in my own little world of music and texting, keeping to myself I looked up and made eye contact with the man sitting directly across from me. A man in a wheel chair with only one leg. A man whose clothes were worn, and dirty. His smile was crooked and teeth weren't clean. As I looked up, he smiled @ me! He was so happy, and so willing to pass his happiness on to a complete stranger. So as small as this may seem, I took and I ran with it! Keeping myself open to anyone I might meet, no matter how the looked! I suggest you try the same for a day, just make a new friend and spread the beautiful message that life is a gift and no matter what we have or who we are - we should cherish it!
