There are many stories about Canadian Pianist Glenn Gould
but one that stands out is the time he was arrested in
Florida, sitting at a park bench with his warm coat
and gloves and arrested for vagrancy. I can only imagine the look on the officers face when he realized this was the famous Glenn Gould....
Glenn Herbert Gould was born on September 25,1932 in
Toronto, Canada. Born to musical parents, his mother encouraged music even when Glenn was still in the womb.
Even the family doctor predicted Glenn would either be a doctor or a pianist.His mother was his first piano teacher.
Some of the movies (and there were many made about Glenn)
I recall the famous adjustible chair his Dad made and he
carried that chair to many famous concert halls. Born with a vivid imagination, Glenn strived for perfection
and even his odd style of playing and his sometimes known
eccentricity did not stop appreciative fans worldwide from adoring this genuine and incredible human being.
If you have never paid much attention to classical music
start with Glenn Gould. Try to seek out some of the movies about his life and get to know this genius, and
you will be blessed by his musical interpretations.
Today we took the time to listen to some of our favorite
music by the incredible and memorable Glenn Gould. Our
lives are richer just for listening....
Glenn performed some 200 concerts in his short lifetime.
Having a very bad headache then a stroke, Glenn was taken
from this world in 1982. His legacy is being known as one of the most acclaimed 20th century pianists...
