The internet has empowered us to be kind to strangers in everyday life. Though separated by thousands of miles, I can help a stranger who is going through a dark night of the soul by offering a point of view and some compassionate words. The two hours I spent helping this stranger by writing this essay gave me as much satisfaction as any other volunteer work I do.
