43 Year old single female who lost her job a year ago. Still looking for work, but having serious health issues. I have found this year has opened my heart to all sorts of people who are hurting. I try to do the best I can. I live in Chicago. I look at this year as a life changing experience for the better. I am no longer so vain, callous or prideful. I try to do good in various ways. It is a spiritual journey. If feels better than being selfish. Thank you.

After being laid off last year I became more aware of how many people are going hungry. I have always been concerned about the ethical aspects of being human (former philosophy prof teaching ethics amongst other subjects). But teaching is not doing everything to help others. What stared me on philosophy was the question of justice in Plato's Republic. That question still drives me...since I was 18 years old. SOcial justice is where I choose to put my energy.
